Recently my daughters have been home sick with terrible sore throats and fevers. Cinnamon and honey have helped, but something warm would be better. So today I made a warm cinnamon honey tea with a drop of coconut oil. The results were amazing, and the tea tasted so good!
We use honey to help coat the throat and soothe scratchy, irritated, swollen throats. We use cinnamon to help promote healing. Coconut Oil is used in a small dose for its natural antibiotic, antiviral and antibacterial properties.
Please know that I am not a herbalist, or a doctor, I am just a mom and this is what works for us.
Honey Cinnamon Tea
1 cinnamon stick
1/8 cup honey
coconut oil (optional)
**Please note that honey should not be given to any child under the age of 1.
In a tea pot, or large bowl, place 1 cinnamon stick and steep for 5 minutes, covered. Remove cinnamon stick and add honey. Stir to dissolve. Serve in your cup of choice.
For additional benefits, add 1 drop of coconut oil into each cup and enjoy.
1 pot makes 6 small cups (1/4 cup servings) or 2 regular mugs
